LETS GET SHABBY JUNE CHALLENGE

I'm a sucker for Mandy's challenges over at Let's Get Shabby...I like them! This month is 'Something Old, something New, something Borrowed, something Blue......yes ,well, as y'all know I'm now a MA to a BOY. So of course, you know what I've scrapped, don't you? Now, the photos aren't stunning. That'll come later, but I really wanted to scrap Little Lucas when we first saw him. My girl friend says I look scared or stunned or overwhelmed. Probably a bit of all three. I think Neri is doing much better!!!
My 'something new' is this range of papers & accessories [including the letter stickers] from Authentique - the Miracle Baby Boy Collection

The 'something blue' is a number of things...the paper, ink, the little footprints in the circle inside this Greatest View doily...& the Stampin' Up seam binding ribbon is blue, too...so is the journalling!!!
Even though I'm a 'step' grandma...this is different....

Here's my 'something old' - the lace is part of a doily I cut up from the Op Shop..it's "VINTAGE"!!!
The 'something borrowed' is the sketch from a LO that Kim Jeffress did. I asked if I could 'jack' her, which she kindly agreed to! So THANK YOU Kim...& talking about 'sharing' your scrapping, take a peek at Em Stafrace's post HERE. Interesting thoughts! Here's Kim's LO, just so you can see her fantastic style & make you want to click HERE to go to her blog!!! And to show you how 'jacks' always take on a life of their own:):)

 That's it from me!

SASSY SCRAPPER'S May challenge

Yes, I know...another LO...but I couldn't resist going in the SASSY SCRAPPER'S challenge. I'd forgotten that Georgia Heald had done her first ever sketch for this one & I've left it a little late....but it's still not too late for you to play along either!!!!!

I find circles very challenging. And that's the understatement of the century, so I was happy to give this a 'go' & do my very best. Once again I have to thank IRINI for the gorgeous Webster's Pages papers that I won in her Once Upon A Sketch blog hop, as well as for some of the flowers. One of mine's in there & so is the amazing canvas-y one by MITRA. YUMMY!!
Here y'go:
Close up of flowers... wish I knew what 'brand' this one is???Anyone know? My little satin one is here too.
I've never used scrolls for journaling before - but I've seen both Heather & Lindy do it beautifully..so if I was going to stretch myself with circles, decided to go the whole way & give the scrolls a go, too!!!
Mitra's amazingly gorgeous flower!
A Webster's sticker..mounted it, distress inked the edge & popped it up on dimensionals for some added 'pop'.
Close up of my title. Saw somewhere how you can use your corner punch to go around a circle...so I tried that here, too, with my Martha Stewart one! It worked really well:):)
And FINALLY the whole LO!!! I flipped the sketch to the other side.
I had to fussy cut around the paper then lay it back down so I didn't lose the decoration behind the photo. I'm LOVIN' fussy cutting my photos atm, too!
BTW, basically the journaling talks about what a good friend Mary is...how we've known each other ever since we met at uni as 'mature age' students. This was taken on Mother's Day - her daughter was working; we were stuck at the craft market with our card stall....so we 'hung out' together. She also helped hold onto our tent poles, as the wind was blowing a gale. See, friends help out in ALL sorts of ways!!!!!

CARD PATTERNS

Hope you're all having a good weekend. We've a bit of sun here, but there's no getting around the fact that Winter is well & truly on the way!
Today I'd like to share my card for the CARD PATTERNS sketch 167. They do have lovely sketches!

I've used a tag that Leanne Allinson sent me oh - must be last year, as part of a prize pack. Also, a flower from Irini & one of my little satin ones as well...there's still time to go in my RAK [see sidebar] if you'd like some of these:):)

Loved using the colour combination. Hope you like it & get inspired to join in over at Card Patterns:)

Baby Lucas's Album

I had this all ready to go ~ but had to wait 'til my new Baby Grandson was born so I could put his name on the front. This isn't for a challenge...but because I saw the idea on CASSIE'S blog...so I 'jacked' her. It's not as lovely as hers 'cos I used this as a reason to use up LOTS of different papers & embellies BUT I did add quite a few of the Authentique Miracle Baby Boy Collection . This was a book I picked up at the Op shop, glued a few pages together so I had about 14 left ~ 1 for each month, then some for photos at the back. So, there's a photo for each month on each page, some with room for journalling, some with little pockets.... I figure this is easy for Mum to fill in - not too much work & even more fun for Lucas to look at as he grows up. It's not a 'precious' book. It's meant to be robust & handled:):)

A few fave pages...

An Authentique Baby Boy Collection tag...so cute!!!
Sorry about all the photos..but they're quick to scroll through...maybe this can give you some ideas, too. And thanks, Cassie!!
Have a lovely weekend, Lizzy H
PS: Just got my lovely prize for making a comment over at CAS-UAL FRIDAYS...a while ago...it's a yummy stamp set... so that was some very happy mail:):)

Welcome Lucas

Yes, finally Neri & Alex have had their baby ~ Lucas Alexander came into the world today [Thursday 24th] & he's just gorgeous. Not that I'm biased or anything! Still on a drip ~ monitoring him a little, but I'm sure he'll be just fine:):)
Poor bub is just on 12 hours old & already having to get used to the click of a camera:):)
Cheers, Ma, I mean LIZZY!!!!!

This One's for Karen W....& Get Creative...& Scrap Africa!

See, I'd actually decided I'd really done more than my fair share of scrapping this month....hence, last post's comment about KIU being my last one...but Karen made some comment about there being 10 more days in the month. So I had to fill them up!!!
And I like Irini, & GET CREATIVE her challenge blog is pretty awesome. So was the card sketch. And yes! You still have time to enter:))

I downloaded one of the FREE images from Marivic over at ZOE & ZEUS which is a yummy blog with some really lovely images she kindly shares. I keep meaning to use them, & finally have! So thanks Marivic. She also runs the Berry71Bleu blog, where they also have a neat challenge going this month!
My card. The image was copied onto white paper, then I've masked it & done lots of inking/misting, then punched with my MARTHA STEWART AROUND THE PAGE set. So even though it looks like it has been mounted where the stitching is...it hasn't!
I've used some more of my flowers [if you want to go in for my RAK - look at the sidebar!] The other flowers come from a lovely Greek Girl in a Giveaway I was lucky enough to win. Thanks Irini!!!!! The blue bg card was white, I've swished over it with Distress stain, spritzed with water, then misted with glimmer mist gold.

And I was so keen to have another go at SCRAP AFRICA's wonderful sketch, that I did do a 2nd LO. This one did NOT come together easily. I started with white card stock from Scrap Friends originally, then...painted, misted, masked, misted some more..... washi tape from D-Lish Scraps...
Mitra will recognise the plastic doily she sent [makes THE best mask!!!]
...bird charm from My2angels...

the 'So Cute' is chipboard from Scrap  Friends, too. I've Distress Glossy Accented some washi tape for the 'o'. That was a fun touch!
A washi tape 'flower'...mini doily from the Greatest View.

I think this really IS it for May...but one should never say never....looks like the baby is on its way, so may have to scrap him if he's born in time:):):)
Cheers, Lizzy H

KRAFT IT UP CHALLENGE

Well, it's almost the end of the month...& this is just about my last LO...I think!!!
Today's share is for KRAFT IT UP where you had to do an 'interview' on what Easter means & as long as you used Kraft card stock, the rest was open...we spent Easter in  QLD with my step-grandies, & how do they see Easter? Like this:
As you can see, lots of misting & sprays. I've used Glimmer Mists & Perfect Pearls as well as pigmented ink from the Art Supplies store!

Some more fussy cutting ~ lovely die cut butterflies from the lovely Jessica! LOTS of liquid pearls, too.
EP papers, a Greatest View badge & D-Lish Scraps butterflies in there as well.

I was a bit duh-ish with this, as I really wanted to go in the Stuck?! sketches this month...as it turned out I've used both sketches in other challenges. Don't know quite why I did that...oh well, next month...
Also, we've had our 1st flower swap. It was purple with silver. Here's a picture that Sharon took from over at her blog [I was lazy not taking one of my own!]...Don't they look lovely ~ & it's great getting some 'happy mail'!!!
If you're interested in joining, leave me a comment to say so & I'll include you in next month's swap. The 'rules' are HERE.

Remember to check out our Challenges over at Scrap Friends! I know I LOVED the opportunity of being a GD over at Bird Is The Word & that's just what the top 3 LOs get to do with our challenges:):) Plus, there's the chance of winning the random draw, which is a GREAT scrappy prize!!
Happy Scrapping,
Lizzy H

ANOTHER FREAKING SCRAPPY CHALLENGE & A THANKYOU

Hi there! Can I give a really, really big shout out to the peeps over at CHALLENGE ME HAPPY? I've been going in their challenges for a while & had a win a couple of weeks ago...& I must say their efficiency in getting my prize [yummy My Little Shoebox papers!!] out to me & their well run blog is a JOY to behold! So thank you, guys:):) If you haven't been over to their fortnightly challenges, go take a peek:):)
Today I want to share my LO for Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge. Another fave challenge blog! This is the sketch:

You need to scrap a memory of a lady who has influenced your life greatly. This is for my 'Ma's Album' - sort of family social history for the next generation...my future grandchildren. Well, grand CHILD to be born soon, at this stage, anyway!
It's an 8x8" page, so I had to make some adjustments...big TAA to IRINI for the alphas & the flowers. I don't have many of these, so I really enjoyed adding them!

I've used a corner puncher here, with some zig zagging, but not many embellies, 'cos the bg paper is fairly busy [Basic Grey]...but it reflected Mam's era to me, which is why I used it!
Don't forget to take a peek at the Colour Palette Challenge over at Scrap Friends. You can find it HERE! And you've still got a while 'til our 1st SKETCH challenge ends. The sketch is HERE.....
Have a lovely weekend,
Lizzy H

ARTastic Challenge for May

Hi there! Over our hol's in QLD, DH & his son had a few games of Boulles...so I took some "Old Man" snaps of them in their errrr....bowling hats????!!!! ARTastic has a challenge where you need to draw inspiration from this by Drysdale:

and also use the theme of 'outdoor sports'.
Here's my LO:
I used BoBunny paper for this one - it had the 'look' of the painting I wanted. I've distress inked along the top, with a blue, to sort of copy what Drysdale has done on his painting...but mine's much more subtle!
Love those little tickets by Idea-Ology! The little glassine bag & string are from Greatest View & the seagull I picked up in Tassy on hol's.
Lots of distress ink used on this one. It matched with the art work!
More of my Tassy vintage tickets, plus a row of some cut from Kaiser Craft paper...& of course...washi tape!!!
Hope you can see how I've drawn inspiration from the painting. I find ARTastic a really interesting challenge site...I've looked for ages..waiting for one I felt 'right' to join in with!
Don't forget to check out our TWO challenges running at Scrap Friends atm...one's bound to 'float your boat':):):)
Take it easy! Lizzy H.
